Our Mission:

The mission of Premiere Theatre & Performance (PTAP) is to present new plays and original performance by directors of vision and originality. PTAP creates a home for stage directors, in an environment that encourages development, creativity and artistic integrity.

Our History:

PTAP began five years ago as the International Theatre of Chicago, whose mission, as it remains today, was to create new work and original performance for the Chicagoland community. We dedicated ourselves to providing a voice to emerging American and international playwrights by bringing their work to the stage under the direction of creative and forward-thinking directors. In this way, we manage to grant exposure not only to undiscovered plays and playwrights, but to lend our support to companies and directors who share our passion for original, quality work. PTAP collaborates with established, acclaimed and committed directors, who have dedicated their artistic careers to the development of new work.  The work we choose is challenging, always new, always a Chicago premiere.   Our work has been recognized for its quality and its unique contribution to the Chicago theatrical landscape. Since its founding, Premiere has produced eleven productions and formed collaborative relationships with a number of acclaimed, off-loop Chicago theatres, including Vitalist Theatre Company, The Moving Dock Theatre Company, and our newest partner, Rasaka Theatre Company.
